Does a weary, tired, hackneyed feeling, where the best time of the day is going to bed and the worst time is getting out of it, overwhelm you? Do you still feel weary and tired even after getting a good night’s rest? Do you keep tossing and turning the whole night through?

The problem may seem to be physical, but a large slice of it is psychological. Perhaps you are aware of the cause of the problem. You may also have the solution in sight. Follow a balanced diet, exercise regularly, get enough rest, avoid stress-inducing activities, think positive, take away those negative habits, get enthusiastic about life, and set a goal. You know all about these things, but the challenge is how to find the interest, energy, time, and initiative to act and stay active in the pool of solutions.

The suggestions below may trigger your interest.

Try your best to find out what makes you feel weary. Is it your present status in life? Is it the surroundings or environment you’re living in? Does the frustrating news on the papers, radio, or TV pull you down? Do disappointments in life make you feel like giving up any interest to achieve something?

Whatever your reason is, get a hold of yourself. Think of those people who try their best to overcome their adversities in life despite impairments or handicaps. They never give up. They strive. They keep on. Do they touch you in the heart? If they do, that’s good; because at this very moment, you have just decided to do something good about yourself. Do you know the first thing you need to do to get interested in life? Reach out to the less fortunate right now.

One of the most rewarding activities in life is helping those in need. Make sure that you’re helping those who are really in need, not the ones who disguise themselves to be in need. This way, your efforts do not go to naught.

Knowing how it feels to help the needy, you must be thirsting for something to make you successful in life so that you will be in a better position to stretch out your helpful hands.

To be successful, you have to decide what you want to do with your life. If you’re undecided, here are some tips: What do you love to do? What are your talents or skills? What does your community need? Definitely, you’ll come up with something worth doing. Formulate it. Plan it.

After deciding and planning, act on it pronto! Don’t delay. Don’t have second thoughts. Don’t dilly-dally. Be firm and stay focused.

With that worn-out feeling gone, welcome yourself to a life full of vigor and vitality.

Let’s face it! Many people just seem to have great difficulty in saying “no” or denying any favor asked from them. As a result, they often find themselves trapped in the middle of nowhere because of their own hastened decision or acceptance of an unfavorable task – just because at one particular point in their life, they were afraid to say “no.”

For those who are constantly faced with this problem, the following tips will prove to be useful.

1. Do not occupy yourself with things that do not concern you. If you habitually engage in something you hardly know anything about, you are making your situation far worse than the one who does nothing at all. On the other hand, some people seem to get satisfaction by intervening in other people’s business. Always be alert and possess utmost care to ensure that no one meddles in your own affairs. Good moderation in all areas of life will be helpful in the end.

2. Decide first whether a task is worth your precious time. Just a simple thought: If it will just eat your time away from the more important things you consider in your life, then it’s not worth your time. Period.

3. Avoid incurring obligations beyond your capacity. Instead, nurture your skills and abilities for the time being. There will come a right time for you to step up; and when that perfect moment arrives, waste no opportunity. But as long as you are not sure of the outcome, say “no” for the meantime especially if the favor will just derail your strategy.

In a way, success and a sharp memory go together like a horse and carriage or hamburger and fries.

Just imagine how inconvenient or embarrassing it would be to be absent-minded or just plainly, to have a dull memory. Think of the benefits a sharp memory will bring to you by considering the following:

•	Visualize how impressed your associates, clients, co-workers, or your manager will be if you can commit to memory loads of names, figures, dates, and addresses (to mention a few), without the aid of paper or any devices that will make you recall such information. Not only will they be amazed, they will think that you are one step ahead of them when it comes to memory recall.

•	In social gatherings, the sound of one’s name is music to one’s ears. And if you can accurately remember names of other people (even those you hardly know personally), you will attract interest and attention from them.

•	Being alert as a result of having a sharp memory earns respect from others. It is infectious in a way, because being alert makes other people alert too.

•	When you have a good memory, people will look at you as somebody whom they can rely on. If you’re branded as somebody who is forgetful, they will treat you as if you didn’t exist.
.
•	When you have a sharp memory, you are a time saver. If you spend most of your time cramming on things you can’t find because you forget where you put them, the day would just end without actually getting anything done.

•	With a sharp memory, you can comprehend things more easily and quickly. You don’t need to spend more time consuming repetition of instructions or what has just been said.

You may ask, “Just how is it possible to have a sharp memory?” Although the subject of our discussion is mainly on the benefits that can be obtained as a result of having a sharp memory, a brief discussion on how to attain this follows.

Just like the physical body, the brain’s memory cells also require periodic exercises. You need to think positive, be creative, imaginative, and active at all times. Even not so important things can help to keep your memory in prime condition, just like physical exercise. Processing information in the brain keeps the memory sharp.

A proper diet is another important factor. What is food for the body is also food for the brain, in turn enhancing or sharpening the memory. It means intake of nutritious foods and avoiding junk foods. The Food Pyramid Guide for proper selection of food groups is a good source of information.

Read books, lots of them. Read to comprehend and discover new vocabularies. This stimulates the mind to store new information. Keep your interest to learn in a high level. This is possible if your mind is preoccupied with working and thinking about something you like to do. Not only do you get to have an improved memory, you also get to be a wiser individual.

“I love you.” What a punch these three simple words can bring – if it’s delivered the right way. The thing is, some people just can’t say it comfortably without the words tripping out of their mouths. You’d think they’ll morph and turn into ogres, the way they squirm and go around beating the bush before finally saying the words. Then there are also those who openly say the words but don’t really mean it. Nevertheless, it doesn’t matter if they do or don’t say the words. What matters is that a relationship remains honest and happy.

What are the things that make a relationship work anyway? The same factors work for all kinds of relationship. Whether it’s a relationship between lovers, among family members, friends, office workers, and business partners, the same foundations apply for it to work. If a pillar is missing, the whole thing crumbles. Three pillars make up the foundation. We call the three Pillars The Relationship Tripod. Each will be discussed in length in the proceeding paragraphs.

The Companionship Leg

First, it must be understood that a relationship requires at least two people for it to exist, let alone work. You must be visible to the other person. If the relationship is long distance, you must at least feel that the other one is there. It won’t do any good to take the other’s existence for granted and count on the other to check up on you. You must also show compassion. If you keep up the show of indifference, it just spells failure. The other person needs to sense your feelings for them. Show them kindness, gentleness, sensitivity – anything that shows you care for them. It’s not that hard to say “I’m always here for you,” is it? Whoever receives this show of affection must give something back. Everyone must do his or her part in a relationship because it’s a give and take condition.

The Compromise Leg

As mentioned earlier, a relationship is a give and take situation. Not all people are made alike; even if two people are so uncannily similar, there might still exist small differences that could spark an argument. This is why an agreement has to be reached on every argument, whether petty or vital. All kinds are important, especially when it comes to a relationship. Someone has to win and someone has to give in. This is why the discussion of differences is so essential. Discuss the disparity: What is the problem? Why is it a problem? Who should compromise and adjust to the problem? All these should be resolved. Conceding sometimes doesn’t make you a loser; rather, it goes to show how important a relationship is to you. “I guess you’re right.” These words could be the balm of your disputes.

The Communication Leg

There would be no discussion of differences, no showing of affection, and no saying of words without communication. This third and last leg is probably the most vital in a relationship. It enables us to know what the other party feels and what is needed to make the partnership work. It gives us the ability to say the words that are wanted and needed. In short, the other two legs won’t happen if the last one isn’t present. Just a small act of communication could go a long way in improving a relationship.

You can do simple things like writing a small note on a piece of paper, or writing short emails at least occasionally. Do something to give truth to your existence and your relationship. Don’t take this for granted, because a lot of relationships crumble due to lack of any contact. Take the long distance relationship, for instance. A lot fail, but some succeed because they contact each other almost every day. Even business associates keep contact by sending each other progress reports.

Any form of relationship is a box of chocolates, as Forrest Gump puts it. Some tastes good and some don’t. Overall, the experience of having a box of chocolates gives you a good feeling because eating each and every piece of chocolate gives an experience – an experience of bitterness, sweetness, or even bitter-sweetness. You don’t get every flavor that you desire in a box. So if you are looking for a relationship that is easy on the heart and mind, get ready for the harsh reality. It entails the effort of everyone involved for it to work well.
